My Personal Narrative...
My name is Emmanuella Plakoyiannaki and I am a Professor in International Business at Leeds University Business School (LUBS), UK. I currently serve as the Director of Research for the International Business Division at LUBS. Prior to this, I was an Associate Professor of Marketing at the Department of Economics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. I am an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow, UK and a Visiting Professor at Aalto University, School of Business, Finland. I am collaborating with the Graduate School of Management, University of Saint Petersburg, Russia, the International Hellenic University and the Greek Open University, Greece.
I hold a PhD in Marketing from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. My PhD studies were funded by the Greek State Scholarships Foundation. Immediately after my PhD studies, I received a fellowship award by the Economics and Social Research Council (ESRC), UK in order to pursue post-doctoral research at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.
My research interests lie at the interface of philosophy of science, qualitative research and international business/marketing. My recent work concentrates on translation, linguistics and equivalence in cross-language contexts. I am also interested in exploring the creative relationships between art and business phenomena.
My active engagement with qualitative research is highly manifested in my teaching curriculum. I am involved in the transfer of knowledge on qualitative research through teaching and postgraduate mentoring. I have delivered related courses and student consultations on qualitative case research in various international Universities including Aalto University, School of Business, Finland; Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece; Athens University of Economics and Business, Greece; University of Glasgow, UK; University of Jyvaskyla, Finland; University of Piraeus, Greece; University of Saint Petersburg, Russia, and University of Tampere, Finland. I also teach various business-related courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including introduction to marketing, strategic marketing, marketing research, services marketing, international marketing, advertising, consumer behaviour and entrepreneurship
I have published in various academic journals including the Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies, International Journal of Management Reviews, International Business Review, Journal of World Business, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing.
